WHAT PEOPLE HAVE SAID ABOUT TREKKING IN THE ALPS (the nice bits!!!)

For some people a trek or hiking holiday is just one holiday of many, for others an alpine trek can be a life-changing journey. Whatever the experience, I share it too and it’s good to hear back from people afterwards. Here’s some of the more recent feedback.....

I had a really lovely time, thank you. Great exercise, amazing views and lovely company Mandy March 2010

Thanks very much for the week of most beautiful & inspiring walking in the Aosta valley the week before last. I was again most impressed by your leadership, charm & professionalism & your great care dealing with my diabetes, and also for all your advice on the skills of walking in the mountains - for all of which I am very grateful. The group were really friendly & sympathetic & great fun to be with Alan August 2011

It was a fantastic week, thanks Hilary, and everyone for great company and entertainment Sara June 2011

Many thanks for a great week, and once again overcoming what the elements throw at you – lack of snow is definitely better than blizzards etc. You managed to come up with some really good walks. The highlight for me was definitely the Gemmi Pass – the view was just awesome, plus the Daubenhorn – certainly was a 3 smiley summit Cliff April 2011

I would like to say that the holiday was great. As ever you lead us on interesting treks and allowed us to enjoy the wonderful scenery. All the arrangements went well, hotels, including the secret one in the mountains, the transfers, the mountain hut and the final challenging walk. Not sure if you arranged the weather but it too was magnificent. I imagine, but you may know differently, that people who sign up for this type of holiday generally get on with each other because they have at least the walking in common. Our group was really good, we are all different but I think we all enjoyed each others’ company. Grant August 2011

I would like to say a very big thank you for the trek. I fulfilled an ambition and showed myself I could achieve it and in doing so I had a wonderful time. I was very impressed by your leadership and professionalism which you carried off in a friendly, jovial but firm way. A good mix as it must be a tough job at times. I will not hesitate to recommend you to anybody else thinking of doing that type of trip.I made good friends with all of the group and enjoyed having the company around me each day. The people made the trip even more enjoyable as we could share the experience with each other and have fun as well. The memories will stay with me forever”. Ron July 2010

I wanted to thank you for an amazing journey. This trip filled my heart and soul with joy and sunshine... even in the rain and snow”. Bonnie July 2011

Greetings from your Shadow! By now you are with another group showing them the way while we are still very much savoring our memories of the trek! You are very good at what you do and more importantly you care about what you do! You were nothing short of the best shepherd ever to be in the Alps! You got me through the toughest physical challenge I have ever had. My reserves were spent and somehow you were able to lead me over the passes!I salute you and plan on our paths to cross again Jan July 2011

I think you can put our trek down as another triumph for “Trekking In The Alps”. I enjoyed it enormously. Thank you yet again for your hard work, your professionalism, your tact and the great fund of knowledge you share with your trekkers. (The Larch!). We had lots of fun along the way as a group too”. Peter July 2010

Just to say how much I enjoyed our weekend with you. It was just great and the walks we did were excellent. Thank you so much for organising everything so well. And we were so lucky with the weather too. It is amazing really how much can be packed into a long weekend. I will remember it always Jane August 2010

I can't recommend Hilary highly enough. She is
- extremely knowledgeable
- easy to be with
- a flora and fauna dictionary
- fluent in French (though she's a Brit)
- a great organizer (lodging, meals, etc.)
- a pretty damn good partier
