Very comfortable accommodation in two contrasting hotels. No dinners included in this trip price as we will eat out at local restaurants so as to be able to sample all the gastronlic specialities of this region.

Classic Provence 1495€

Meet 21 October 2023 /

The Classic! This is my original tried and tested Provence trip, tweaked over the years, always popular. Based in my home village or very nearby, we explore the northern part of the region of Provence, the wonderfully named Baronnies Provençales, an area of stunning rocky gorges, high plateaux, lavender fields, olive groves, vineyards and charming villages. 2 hotel bases during the week allow us to experience all aspects of classic Provence.  6 days, of which we'll have 5 day walks in the stunning wild scenery. One day midweek for other activities -- gentle cycling, sight - seeing, via ferrata, or just relaxing.

Spectacular Vercors 1550€
Meet  3 June 2023 /  Confirmed

The limestone massif of the Vercors forms what is known as the pré-alpes or the foothills of the Alps. The vast plateau formed by soaring cliffs dominates the city of Grenoble, and views stretch all the way to Mont Blanc in the north and the Ecrins to the east. The hiking here is truly stunning, extremely diverse, and the only downside will be fitting it all into 6 days. 2 hotel bases should help us to explore as far as possible.

Southern Summits trips

My summer office is now the southern Alps of France, which actually is a vast region encompassing several distinct areas. For the past few years I have offered a Southern Summits trip and these have been very successful so now I offer several of these trips, in different regions of these amazing and lesser known Alps. These trips all follow a programme that has worked well these last years...we base at a comfortable hotel (sometimes 2 diffferent bases in a week) and we hike to the top of non-glaciated non-technical summits - it may sound intimidating but it isn't, it's just a great way to find really amazing routes away from the frequented regular summer treks.  So we are not following a set trail, we will go off the beaten track away from the crowds. Our hikes will take us through wild scenery to amazing peaks with 360° views.

Southern Summits Ubaye 1595€ Full
Meet 1 July 2023 /

This region is nestled into the extreme southern edge of the French Alps, bordering with Italy. It is part of the Alpes de Haute Provence and as such benefits from a very unusual climate, a mix of alpine and the Mediterannean. With its fast flowing eponymous river, its vast array of fortifications on the high ridges and its Mexican influence, the Ubaye will seduce the most keen and adventurous mountain walkers. We'll stay in the small vibrant town of Barcelonnette right in the centre of the region which gives us easy access to all the fascinating facets of this massif.

Southern Summits Ecrins    1595€ Confirmed

Meet 22 July 2023 /
6 days hiking from 2 hotel bases in and around the spectacular Ecrins massif.  Home to the most southerly 4000+m peak in the French Alps, the Ecrins has many glaciated peaks, with soaring granite spires sourrounded by snowy domes and deep alpine valleys. this scenery provides the backdrop to our hikes which will take us right into this magnificent mountain environment, without reqsuiring any technical equipment or expertise. Great belvederes, non-glaciated peaks and high cols and alpine meadows will make this a most memorable week.
